Abstract

1,250,984. Mixing apparatus; polymerisation apparatus. CHEMISCHE WERKE BUNA VEB. 29 July, 1969, No. 38116/69. Headings B1C and B1X. [Also in Division F4] Mixing apparatus suitable for use in polymerisation processes comprises a vessel 5 provided with a jacket 6 and an agitator comprising a rotatable shaft 10 having hollow discs 11 arranged along its longitudinal axis through which a heat transfer medium can be circulated and provided with rotatable arms 14 between adjacent discs carying pivoted wiper plates 15. The shaft may extend through the bottom of the vessel, Fig. 2 (not shown), and baffles may be located within the hollow discs to assist heat transfer, Fig. 4 (not shown).
