Abstract

1,250,821. Selective printing. INTERNATIONAL COMPUTERS Ltd. 16 Dec., 1969 [8 Jan., 1969], No. 1080/69. Headings B6C and B6F. Magnetic printer having variable and fixed printing.-A magnetic printer having the usual print heads 4 recording on a drum 2 for transfer to a permanent record 9 also includes a member e.g. a cylinder 14 or a flat sheet carrying fixed printing matter 16 which is synchronously transferred to the drum 2. The cylinder 14 may have the fixed pattern formed directly on its outer surface or on a separate attached replaceable sheet 15. The sheet may have raised patterns 16 of magnetic material magnetized from an electro or permanent magnet situated inside the cylinder near the point where cylinder 14 contacts the drum 2. The fixed matter may be a magnetic doping agent formed in slots or grooves in a rubber or brass sheet. Alternatively the whole sheet may be magnetized and unwanted areas removed.
