Abstract

1,250,590. Operating theatre lamp. SYBRON CORP. 12 May, 1970 [16 June, 1969], No. 22950/70. Heading F4R. An operating theatre lamp for producing light of a high colour temperature comprises an annular housing 12 carrying a lamp socket 16 mounted at its axis of rotation by members 22, a quartz halogen bulb 14 in the socket, electrical connections 18 to the socket, a cup guard 20, which supports a filter element 42 surrounding the lamp bulb to provide an initial colour temperature correction, and a dichroic reflector 44 mounted at the rear of the housing arranged to transmit light of undesired wavelengths in the infrared region rearwardly from the lighting fixture and to reflect the remaining high colour temperature light forwardly through a cover plate 26 at the front of the housing. The cup guard 20 has perforations 38 and louvres 34 to allow air to circulate freely around the lamp bulb to cool it. The dichroic reflector is pivotally mounted to allow quick access to the interior of the lamp. The filter element 42 is retained in position by springs 40, and corrects the light from the bulb to 3500‹ K. The dichroic reflector provides further correction to produce light of 6000‹ K.
