Abstract
1,250,534. Phenothiazines. SOC. GENER. ALE DE RECHERCHES ET D'APPLICATIONS SCIENTIFIQUE. 18 Feb., 1970 [3 March, 1969], No. 11249/69. Heading C2C. Compounds of Formula (I) and their salts in which X 1 and X 2 , are H.R, F, Cl, Br, OR, CN, COR, CF 3 , SR, SO 2 R or S0 2 NMe 2 , R is 1-4C-alkyl and the quinuclidine group is substituted by (CH 2 ) x in the 2- or 3-position, is 1 or 2 when the group is substituted in the 2 - position and being 0 or 1 when the group is substituted in the 3-position, are prepared by condensing a 10-unsubstituted phenothiazine with a reactive ester of a quinuclidinyl alkanol (e.g. the halide or sulphonyloxy ester). The 2.chloroethyl quinuclidine hydrochloride is prepared from the 2-chloromethyl quinuclidine through 2.cyanomethyl quinuclidine hydrochloride, 1-carboxymethyl quinuclidine hydrochloride, 2 - ethoxycarbonylmethyl - quinuclidine hydrochloride and 2 - hydroryethyl quinuclidine. Pharmaceutical compositions contain compounds (I) in forms suitable for oral, parenteral and rectal administration. Compounds (I) have antihistaminic, anti-cholinergic, adrenolytic, neuro sedative, tranquillizing and/or spasmolytic properties.
