Abstract

1,250,075. Laminated fibreglass diving board. C. R. MEYER. 6 Feb., 1969, No. 6459/69. Headings B5A and B5N. [Also in Division A6] A moulded laminated fibreglass diving board 10 is made in a waxed mould (not shown) by coating the mould with successive layers of a polyester resin 54 which may be coloured, a fibreglass mat 52 and woven roving 50 having more longitudinal fibres than transverse ones (with respect to the board), and then spraying on top of these three layers, a polyester resin which is allowed to dry. A fibreglass mat 46 cut to the shape of a wooden frame 32 is positioned next and sprayed with polyester resin, and the frame is clamped on top until the resin has solidified. The frame 32 and the exposed areas of sprayed layer 50 are then coated with successive layers of fibreglass mat 56 and a cloth layer 58 which is sprayed with polyester resin. Various mounting accessories are then bonded to the board and the assembly is removed from the mould and cured at 150‹ F.
