Abstract

1,249,271. Coatings. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. 6 Feb., 1970 [6 Feb., 1969], No. 5902/70. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C3] Steel plates are coated with a copolyester powder derived from terephthalic and isophthalic acids and ethylene and propylene glycols by (A) immersing the heated plates in a tank containing the fluidised powder or (B) connecting the plates to a negative pole and electrostatically spraying them with a powder, followed by heat treatment to fuse the powder film. Other additives may be included with the polyester, e.g. titanium dioxide or a mixture of triglycidyl isocyanurate and tetrahydrophthalic anhydride. Coat thicknesses of about 100Á- 300Á are obtained.
