1,248,148. Clip. WALDES KOHINOOR Inc. 29 Aug., 1969, No. 43156/69. Heading E2B. A retaining ring comprises an annular body portion 10 having teeth 12 and 14 on the outer and inner peripheries for retaining one member within another member. As shown in Figure 3, the prongs 12 engage the inner surface of a housing member 24 to fasten the ring to the member and the prongs 14 engage the surface of a part spherical ball 20 retaining it resiliently or fixedly in contact with the housing extension 26 accordingly as the prongs are resilient or rigid. In a modification, the ring body piston is flat and abuts a shoulder on one end, of an inner member and lateral extensions on the fingers 12 exert a bias on a second outer member surrounding the other member to provide a resilient or fixed abutment therefor according to the stiffness of the lateral extensions. Alternatively, the lateral extensions are on the inner prongs 14 and the body portion of the ring abuts a shoulder on the outer member and the lateral extensions abut an inner member.
