Abstract

1,247,083. A spraying nozzle. ENGINS MATRA. 18 Sept., 1969 [18 Sept., 1968], No. 46169/69. Heading B2F. A nozzle for simultaneously projecting a finely divided solid, e.g. glass fibre, and a liquid, e.g. a resin, which impregnates it comprises an inner jet for the projection of the solid and means for projecting the liquid therearound. In the embodiment shown, a gaseous suspension of the finely divided solid enters the device from the right and is constricted by the frusto conical section 33; after passing through the cylinder 34 it is further constricted by an annular jet of compressed air supplied from the annular chamber 38 via the line 18. This serves to space the jet of solid suspension from the inner surface of the forward section of the device. Finally the suspension issues from the forward end of the device as a circular jet. The liquid to be projected issues from jets 22 arranged symmetrically in annular face plate 21 being supplied either alone, or with compressed air by means of an annular groove 15 via the line 16. The device may be attached to a spray gun as shown in Fig. 4, the gun carrying apparatus 46 for the production and projection of chopped glass fibre.
