Abstract

A jacking apparatus for raising a building comprises a plurality of hydraulic jacks 3, each jack 3 being operated by a separate pump 5 driven by an electric motor 4. Lifting is achieved by upper and lower transverse bridges 2, 1 and supporting nuts 14, 18 on threaded spindles 13. Operation of the jacks 3 is synchronized automatically through a control system (Fig. 3, not shown), each jack 3 being associated with a level indicator 8 and a manometer. Lifting is carried out step-by-step, the load being transferred from one set of nuts 14 to the other 18 and back again with each extension and contraction of the jacks 3, a follow-up system 7 being used to ensure security of the load.
