Abstract

1,246,856. Fixing developed magnetic images. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 16 Jan., 1969, No. 2558/69. Heading B6C. An electrographic apparatus in which a magnetic image is formed, powder developed on a drum or band, and then transferred to a substrate has a first means for directly heating the powder image on the substrate and second means which utilize heat radiated by the first means to pre-heat directly the powder image. As shown, a print drum 1 is selectively magnetized charged by recording means 2 and developed with powder containing a thermal fixing agent. The developed image is transferred to a paper web 7 by a roller pressed continuously or selectively, by a solenoid, against the drum 1. The developed image is fixed by quartz-iodine lamps 12 located in a housing 13 having a reflective surface 14, the housing being hollow or provided with tubes which allows water, to be circulated by a pump 15 from a reservoir 16 to preheat the web 7.
