Abstract

1,245,264. Clamps; pivots. TUBECLAMPS Ltd. 20 Jan., 1969 [2 Feb., 1968], No. 5341/ 68. Headings E2B and E2F. Means for use in supporting the treads of stairways from tubular metal stringers of a tubular metal scaffolding which stringers extend at an inclination to the horizontal corresponding to the angle of slope of the stairway comprises a two jaw clamp 9 adapted to be secured in releasable clamping engagement with one of the stringers, one of the jaws 'being provided with a bearing part 15 on which is supported, for pivotal movement about a substantially horizontal axis extending in use parallel to the direction of width of the stringers, one 18 of two flanges 18, 22 of an angle bracket 19, the other flange 22 of which bracket is adapted to be secured to the stair tread for the purpose of supporting the same in horizontal position irrespective of variations within predetermined limits of the angle of slope of the stringer to the horizontal and means 21 for securing the pivotally connected flange of the bracket in its adjusted pivotal position relative to the two jaw clamp from which it is supported. In the construction shown the bearing part is provided with an arcuate slot 20 through which the means 21 which, as shown, is a bolt passes to be engaged by a nut. The flange 22 of the bracket is provided with holes through which screws are passed which engage the tread.
