Abstract

1,244,931. Dispensing devices. KRAFTCO CORP. 17 Jan., 1969 [25 Jan., 1968], No. 2832/69. Heading B8D. A collapsible dispenser 11 comprises a package 12 having a collapsible wall 13, means sealing tha package against leaking when the wall is collapsed under pressure and dispensing means secured to the exterior of the wall providing reinforcement of the wall of the package in a predetermined area in which the wall may be punctured; the dispensing means limit the tearing of the wall in the region of the puncture and includes a nozzle 15 through which the contents of the package will flow after puncturing of the wall. As shown, the package 12 has a longitudinal seam 43 and end seals 45 formed by encircling the gathered ends of the wall 13 with a clenching metal band 47. A nozzle 15 having a cruciform or other shaped opening is carried by a flexible strip 19 of metal, plastics film or paper or a laminate of these materials, which is fastened to the package by adhesive or heat sealing. The strip has an opening therein in alignment with the nozzle, whereby the wall 13 may be punctured and the package squeezed to extrude the contents through the nozzle. The nozzle may be covered by a cap or piece of adhesive tape. In a modification, the nozzle is constituted by leaves formed directly in the strip 19.
