Abstract

1,244,050. Pneumatic tyres. CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE A.G. 10 Jan., 1969 [16 Feb., 1968], No. 1535/69. Heading B7C. In a pneumatic tyre blank either the carcass or bead reinforcement 2 and 8, respectively, or both comprise(s) steel wires arranged parallel to one another in a rubberized ply and looped over a bead core 4, the ends of the looped wires being enclosed by a pre-vulcanized rubber layer which may be formed from component rubber sections 11, 12, 13. Only the wires of that ply which extends furthest towards the tread region are so enclosed. The ply end with the sections 11, 12, 13 is pressed and vulcanized before assembly in the carcass and the rubber of these sections may be reinforced with short fibres or wires, or fabric. The carcass cords extend in radial planes whereas the cords of the bead reinforcements extend of preferaby 30 degrees to said planes.
