Abstract

1,243,634. Spray producers. VOLSTATIC Ltd. 14 Nov., 1968 [24 Nov., 1967], No. 53611/67. Heading B2F. An atomising head in which atomisation and detachment of liquid from the head as spray is accomplished by high voltage electrostatic forces, comprises an inner static member 1, an outer static member 2 spaced therefrom to define between the members an annular liquid outlet 3 surrounding the nozzle axis, the frontal peripheries of the members terminating in dissimilar axially spaced planes, the frontal periphery of the more forward member being as a knife edge 7 to which liquid is suppliable from the outlet. Preferably the axial spacing of the planes exceeds the radial dimension of the nozzle outlet, and the knife edge is formed on the outer member. An annular air nozzle opening 12 may be provided, preferably in a plane rearward of the liquid outlet, from which compressed air may be discharged to control the direction of the spray.
