[Also in Division A5] An abdominal belt appliance for slimmers includes an inflatable belt 11 made of a material having a non-porous and non- absorbent surface, with adjustable securing means to fit the belt to a wearer's waist with its ends overlapped, inflating means to inflate the belt throughout its length, and a closure, e.g. a spring clip to maintain the belt inflated. The inflating means is preferably a flexible tube 25 which is of such a length to reach the mouth of a wearer of the belt. The belt may be between 7 and 12 inches wide and be formed by bolding a rectangular sheet of plastics material and securing the free edges to form an enclosed inflatable pocket. The securing means may comprise straps 19 engagable with buckles or D-rings 21, or filamentary interengagable pile fabrics.
