Abstract

1,241,820. Continuous dyeing of carpets. E. KUSTERS [trading as EDUARD KUSTERS MASCHINENFABRIK], 14 Nov., 1968 [1 June, 1968], No. 53977/68. Heading D1L. A hot dyeing liquor is sprayed from a plurality of nozzles 3 under a constant pressure onto a plate 12 and flows through foamed material 13 onto the pile side of a moving carpet 1 as a continuous film 14. The liquor is supplied to nozzles 3 via a horizontal nozzle tube 2 and vertical tube 4 from a tank 4' which is supplied with further liquor by a valve 10 operated by a constant gas pressure device (as shown) or a constant liquor level device (Fig. 2). Collecting pans 24 at each side of the carpet collect unrequired dye liquor and return it to supply tank 11 via pump 28. The dyed carpet passes over stepped guide plates 15, 16 and 17, where it is treated from below with steam from steam tubes 18, and over support means (20, Fig. 5) in a curved path. Dye liquor additives may be urea, glycols, aromatic solvents, chlorinated hydrocarbons, ethylene carbonate, or formic acid.
