Abstract

1,241,244. Printing. MARK-O-PRINT G.m.b.H. 26 June, 1969, No. 32258/69. Heading B6C. An apparatus for printing on objects e.g. paper bags containing flour, moved by conveyer means along a plate 22 having an opening 21 at the printing position, comprises a printing stamp 2 mounted in a guide 4 which is movable to a limited extent towards the opening 21 for impression under control of the objects, the stamp 2 being freely slidable in the guide 4 so that when the impression movement of the guide 4 is stopped, the stamp 2 continues to move by its momentum to pass through the opening 21 and mark the object. The guide 4 is attached to two arms 16, 17 pivoted to a base-plate 15 at their remote ends, the arm 17 being also pivoted to the armature of an electromagnet 19 which, when energized by the approach of an object, moves the arms 16, 17, the guide 4 and the stamp 2 upwardly towards the opening 21. A rubber buffer 11 arrests the arms 16, 17 and therefore the guide 4, but the stamp 2 is free to continue its movement to effect an impression. Inking.-In the inoperative position, an inking roller 1 rests on the stamp 2, the roller 1 being carried by arms 8 pivoted on a spindle 6 and held in such position by springs 20. Plates 25 attached to the guide 4 engage rollers 24 situated near the ends of the inking-roller spindle so that as the guide 4 moves upwardly, the roller 1 is first caused to roll over the stamp 2 and is then moved out of the way of the stamp. The arms 8 are drawn towards one another by a spring 5 and the spindle of the ink roller and the spindle 6 are plain shafts, this arrangement facilitating assembly of the inking device.
