Abstract
1,240,960. Film changing devices. OPTISCHE INDUSTRIE DE OUDE DELFT N.V. Feb.25, 1970 [March 1969], No.9120/70. Heading G2A. A film changing device for a photographic camera using individual film sheets comprises pinching means 35 positioned near the discharge side of a supply magazine 5 for pressing together two opposed edges of the top sheet 8 of a stack in the magazine, so as to curve the forward edge of the uppermost sheet away from the rest of the stack, and a carriage 6 for removing said top sheet. The carriage is provided with a clip member 7 for clamping the curved forward edge so as to pull the top sheet out of the magazine when the carriage is moved in the discharge direction (to the left as seen). After exposure, the exposed sheet is returned to a take-up magazine (9) Fig. 1 (not shown) positioned on top of the supply magazine 5. The movements of the carriage 6, of a film pressure plate 29 and of the pinching means 35 are controlled by an electric motor 12. The speed of rotation of a shaft 14 is transmitted in a ratio of 3:1 to a shaft 15, the shaft 14 controlling the reciprocating motion of the carriage 6, while the shaft 15, by virtue of cams 23, 31, causes the plate 29 to reciprocate up and down and the pinching means 35 to act. Sequence of events The pinchers are each provided with noses 36 which in turn carry knife edges so that, when the pinchers are actuated, the top sheet is urged to the position shown. The carriage 6 is moved backwards (as seen), and the front edge of the sheet is received in a slot (38) Fig. 3 (not shown) of the clip 7 where it is held by a lever 40 as the carriage 6 is moved forwards (as seen). The sheet is brought into position between an exposure window (4) and the plate 29, now in its lowest position, and the lever 40 is released from the sheet. The released sheet is lifted towards the window (4) by the rising plate. While exposure is taking place, the carriage 6 makes one idle movement towards the magazine 5 and back, by which time the exposed sheet is only supported by levers 46, (55) Fig. 4 (not shown). Then a lever 49 engages the forward edge of the sheet and pushes it towards the take-up magazine. The carriage 6 makes another reciprocating movement, during which the pinchers are actuated to prepare the next sheet in the supply magazine.
