Abstract

1,240,496. Boots &c. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. 21 Nov., 1968 [22 Nov., 1967], No. 55191/68. Heading A3B. A machine for pressing the topline of a shoe upper includes an anvil having a cylindrical base portion 34, a conical support surface 32 and a rib 40, and a presser foot 50 which presses the top-line of the upper against the base portion 34. The anvil also includes a back stop 36 which is used to position the topline of the upper and the rib 40 is adjustably mounted on the anvil by a screw and slot connection (not shown). The presser foot 50 has a soft lining of rubber and is mounted on the piston rod 52 of a piston and cylinder device 26.
