Abstract
1,240,028. Electro-chemical analysis. PERKIN-ELMER CORP. Aug. 4, 1969 [Aug. 5, 1968], No. 39000/69. Heading G1N. An ion-selective electrode comprises a metal salt crystal having a solid connection to the wire lead, which may be of a metal different from the metal salt. Silver-chloride or silver-bromide crystals may be fused directly to a silver wire, but silversulphide, cuprous-sulphide, silver-iodide, and lanthanum flouride, are attached to the lead-wire with epoxy resin loaded with copper or silver powder. In a preferred embodiment, a crystal disc 1 is attached to the copper conductor 8 of a shielded cable 15 by loaded epoxy resin 4 and an insulating layer 6 of epoxy resin or sllicone rubber bonds the cable to the crystal, and may seal it into a flexible tube Fig. 4 (not shown) of e.g. polycarbonate or a flourocarbon, and closed at the top end by a ferrule round the cable, colour coded to identify the crystal.
