Abstract

[Also in Division H5] In a thermostatic switch for use with a heating appliance in which a casing 11, Fig. 2, has a thermally conductive portion 30 adapted to engage the vessel to be heated and carries a bimetal 39 for opening a pair of heater control electrical contacts 57, 58 at the preset temperature, the fixed contact 58 has a remote hydraulic transmission control for setting the required temperature. The temperature setting device is mounted on the cooker panel and is coupled to the switch through hydraulic capsule sender and receiver units 75, 85 having an interconnecting fluid conduit 92. Trimmer screw 91 in the control screw 89 engages the sender capsule 85 and is used for initial calibration. Insulating pin 67 actuated by the receiver capsule 75 passes through aperture 68 on the movable contact arm 57 and engages the fixed contact arm 58. Bent arm 46 on the casing determines the initial cold position of the insulator button 44 of the bimetal 39 and is initially adjusted so that the contacts 57, 58 are held open. The portion 30 is held in contact with the vessel by spring (22), Fig. 1 (not shown), which engages flange 23 of the easing to provide a resilient mounting.
