Abstract
1,239,776. Sweet syrups. CORN PRODUCTS CO. 2 Oct., 1968, No. 46862/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C7] In the preparation of sweet syrup by interconverting dextrose in a dextrose bearing solution to ketone, the anion content of the solution is substantially reduced by electrodialysis prior to interconversion. The deanionizing is preferably continued until the effluent has a pH of 8 to 10À5. In particular a sweet syrup is prepared from starch conversion syrup by substantially deanionizing said syrup by conventional electrodialysis, isomerizing the deanionized syrup in the absence of alkali by heating at 60-95‹ C., refining the resulting effluent to substantially remove industrial cations and organic anions, e.g. by ion-exchange or electrodialysis, and recovering a sweet syrup containing at least about 12% levulose.
