Abstract
1,239,484. Gas filters. LOCKER INDUSTRIES Ltd. 25 July, 1968, No. 35441/68. Heading B1T. A filter element for removing liquid particles from a gas comprises one or more layers of fibre glass, each formed by rolling fibres of a selected size from a suspension and then drying by rolling, sandwiched between two foraminous wells and treated with epoxy, phenolic or other resin so as to be self-supporting. The walls may be of perforated sheet metal or woven wire. A cylindrical element may be formed by winding resin-impregnated fibre glass layers around a foraminous sleeve placed on a mandrel and then fitting an outer foraminous sleeve over them prior to curing the resin. An element so formed may serve as a first-zone filter 16 in a two-zone separator such as is described in Specification 988,692. The second zone filter may be formed by spaced wire-mesh screens, by glass-fibres between foraminous walls or by layers 22 of glass fibres between foraminous walls separated by wiremesh packs 24.
