Abstract
1,238,897. Gas turbine by-pass jet engines. SOC. NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION. Nov. 13, 1968 [Nov.17, 1967], No.53797/68. Heading F1J. The invention relates to a gas turbine jet engine of the by-pass or ducted fan type in which means are provided to control the air flow from the LP compressor or fan to the main and by-pass flow paths, such means comprising an assembly of adjustable flaps pivotally mounted at the upstream end of the partition which separates the main and by-pass paths. The engine shown comprises an LP compressor or fan 30, a main flow path 1, defined in part by walls 21, 22, and a by-pass flow path 2 defined in part by walls 23, 24, there being pivotally mounted at the upstream end 22, 23 of the partition which separates the main and bypass paths, as assembly of flaps 13, 19. The flaps 13 which are driven flaps are pivotally mounted at 14 and are movable by means of actuators 28 through linkage 29, 18, 17, 16, the flaps being movable between the positions 13a and 13b indicated in broken lines. The flaps 19 are not driven but serve to inter-connect adjacent flaps 13. The flaps are of V-section, the flaps 13 comprising a reinforcing member (15) and the flaps 19 a reinforcing member (20).
