A vehicle in an elevated railway system comprises a plurality of separate units, connected together by couplings 21, including a drive unit 15, at least one carriage unit 19 and a control cabin 11, 12 at each end of the vehicle, each control cabin being operatively connected to the drive unit 15 through an extendible control cable 13, 14, excess cable being stored on a drum 16 in the drive unit. The control cabins may have couplings 17 for attachment to the rail 18, or they may be directly connected to the adjacent unit.
