Abstract

1,237,291. Lubricant base stock. INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE DES CARBURANTS ET LUBRIFIANTS. 13 Feb., 1969 [14 Feb., 1968], No. 7954/69. Heading C5E. A lubricant base stock composition comprises: 0À5-20 wt. per cent of a compound selected from: (a) conventional base oils made from a heavy petroleum unit, (b) vacuum distillates of crude petroleum, (c) deasphalted vacuum residues of crude petroleum, (d) aromatic extracts of (b) and/or (c), (e) a mixture of two or more of (a), (b), (c) and (d); and 80-99À5 wt. per cent of an oil obtained by hydrorefining (b) or (c) at 350-450‹ C. and 80-240 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP>. The hydrorefining is preferably effected using a SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 catalyst containing Co or Ni and Mo or W.
