Abstract

1,235,793. Battery cages. BIG DUTCHMAN (NEDERLAND) N.V. 24 Nov., 1969, .No. 57405/69. Addition to 1;043,958. Heading A1M. A battery cage system consists of two layers of cages. Both layers consist of two pairs of rows of cages. Each pair separated by a channel 8 carrying feeding means and egg collecting means. The upper layer has the two pairs 4<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>1</SP> and 6<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>1</SP> of cages arranged back to back. The lower layer has an access passage between the two pairs of cages 4, 5 and 6, 7, plates 11 are provided so that the droppings from the upper cages fall through the access passage into the dunging passage 18. A trolley 21 running on rails 17 between separate battery systems is provided. The trolley has substantially vertical guard bars 13 which can pivot slightly about an axis parallel to the rails. The angle of pivot is limited in the inside by abutment 14. On the outside a brake flange 22 engages the rail when the guard bars 13 are pushed outwardly. A resilient member 15 stretches between the two guard rods 13. Specifications 1,043,958 and 1,052,598 are referred to.
