Abstract

1,235,485. Beet harvesters. A. HERRIALI. 5 April, 1968 [8 Aug., 1967], No. 16520/68 Heading A1F. [Also in Division B8] A self-propelled three-row beet harvester comprises: chassis 1, the front portion of which is adjustably pivoted at 7 and supports a leaf stripping device consisting of knifed rotor 11 and finger rotor 14; a digging frame 16 that supports a topping device 22 and shares 18, the frame being pivotally mounted from transverse shafts 26, 27 carrying bell cranks, one of which is attached to a moveable strap 31 so regulating the inclination of the frame; a disc gatherer which, like frame 16, is articulated to a longitudinal bar 30 that provides vertical adjustment to both gatherer and shares; a series of chain elevators feeding a hopper 5; and drive means 4 to provide all the necessary drives. A hydraulic jack that allows the longitudinal bar 30 to be raised or lowered is supplied by means of a distributer valve having automatic position regulation. Means are provided for emptying the beets from the hopper into a trailer, and for adjusting the front end of the gatherer with respect to the shares.
