Abstract

1,235,263. Multi-pass boilers. G.W.B. BOILERS Ltd. 22 June, 1970 [26 June, 1969], No. 32216/69. Heading F4B. A double or tripie pass shell boiler 10 has located in its combustion tube 11 a refractory block 19 which both acts as a heat store, and diverts the combustion products from burner 12 away from the axis of the combustion tube. The block 19 is formed from an assembly of recessed triangular-shaped sub-blocks 20 (Fig. 3, not shown) held between radial lugs 30 on a tie bar 21. Chamfered edges 22 on the subblocks locate them within the tube 11 with the uppermost of their triangular sides horizontal.
