Abstract

1,234,456. Container closures. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE CHEVRON. 26 June, 1968 [10 July, 1967], No. 30525/68. Heading B8T. A synthetic plastics closure is formed by a cap 5 as shown having an extension 16 formed individually but joined to it by means of a tearoff ring 17, the lower end of the extension being turned under an annular flange 13 on a bottle neck. The parts 5 and 16 are re-usable with a new tear-off ring when the ring 17 has been removed. The cap and bottle neck have complementary screwthreads. An inner seal 9 may be omitted, and a space 12 above the thread on the cap will then enable a crown cap to be fitted inside the screw cap. The extension 16 may be pressed, e.g. by hot-working under the flange 13.
