Abstract

1,234,407. Joint making packing; pipe couplings. Q.V.F. Ltd. 26 Feb., 1969 [5 April, 1968], No. 16601/68. Headings F2B and F2G. A sealing ring 10 of deformable material for use between the mating end surfaces 3, 4 of pipes 1, 2 has a substantially flat end surface 12, an axially projecting annular bead 13 of rectangular cross-section and a peripheral flange 15. Slots 17 may be provided in the flange 15. The ring may be of nylon, polyethylene, rubber or, preferably, P.T.F.E., and may be reinforced by a steel wire or other ring embedded therein. If the pipes are of glass, resilient elements 6 may be disposed between them and the backing flanges 7.
