Abstract
1,233,978. Vehicle roof linings. CITROEN S.A. (Automobiles Citroen Berliet Panhard). 23 June, 1969 [1 July, 1968; 3 June, 1969], No. 31580/69. Heading B7J. A motor vehicle body comprises a lining for the roof 1, which lining consists of a single flexible vault panel 2 which is substantially flat when not in use and is fitted under the roof 1 by holding its edges 5 stressed against inturned flanges of the roof 1. The panel 2 may be in contact, e.g. glued, with the roof 1 over the whole of its area, Fig. 1 (not shown), or part of its area, Fig. 2, or alternatively it may be held away from the roof 1 by ribs 4, Figs. 2 and 3, 4 (not shown). The panel 2 is manufactured by moulding or shaping with impressions or projections formed directly therein to conform with any projection on the roof 1, and it also contains recesses 6a, 6b, 9, 15, 16, 17 for the reception of accessories such as sunvisors, inner lighting devices, handles or coatpegs securable to the panel 2 in use, reinforcing inserts of metal plate (14) being embedded in the panel 2 to carry or constitute fastening means for these accessories. The panel 2 desirably consists of a hot-pressed aggregate of glass fibres and resin, and it may be introduced through a restricted entry into a vehicle by bending.
