Abstract

1,233,034. Laminates. MONSANTO CO. 7 Nov., 1968 [9 Nov., 1967 (2)], No. 52902/68. Heading B5N. [Also in Division C3] Aqueous polyimide-forming mixtures containing 20 to 60 wt. per cent of water are obtained by adding a substantially equimolar amount of a diamine H 2 N-Z-NH 2 where Z is a C 6-18 divalent aromatic group to an aqueous solution of the reaction product of one mole of an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid with two moles of a tertiary amine of Kb 1 Î 10<SP>-3</SP> to 1 Î 10<SP>-10</SP> and boiling point below 200‹ C. Numerous diamines, acids and t-amines are specified. Fillers such as carbon black, silica, TiO 2 and glass rovings may be included in the mixture. The mixture may be used to laminate plies of glass, metal, plastics, ceramics, silica or graphite. Examples 1 to 5 describe laminated glass cloth.
