Abstract

1,232,709. t-Butyl hydroperoxide. HALCON INTERNATIONAL Inc. 18 Oct., 1968 [24 Oct., 1967], No. 49473/68. Heading C2C. t-Butyl hydroperoxide is recovered from an isobutane oxidate by a process which comprises fractionating the isobutane oxidate in the presence of an added diluent vapour or gas whereby the vapour phase always contains not more than 60% by volume t-butyl hydroperoxide. The diluent vapour or gas may be water, nitrogen, CO 2 , methane, argon, neon, or an inert organic material having a boiling point not more than 60‹ C. above that of the hydroperoxide.
