Apparatus for regulating the temperatures of a worm plasticizing cylinder 1 for processing thermosetting compositions in injection moulding machines, comprises a plurality of electric heating elements 3 ... 7 which establish individual heating zones, and a cooling ring 19 through which a cooling liquid flows, one heating element 3 allocated to a nozzle 2 being connected to an electric temperature regulator 12 and the other heating elements 4 ... 7 being connectable by means of an electric switch 17 to a further electric temperature regulator 13, the temperature regulators each being controlled by temperature sensing elements 8, 9, and one or more temperature sensing elements 10, with an associated temperature indicator 16, disposed outside the heated zone of the cylinder 1. As shown, the switch 17 is a selector switch arranged for switching the heating elements 4 ... 7 on or off in succession, so as to adjust the length of the cylinder heated by these elements.
