Abstract
1,232,003. Baling machines. W. N. POWELL, A. F. POWELL and H. ANDERTON. 8 July, 1968 [8 July, 1967], No. 31533/67. Heading B5F. In a machine for baling waste paper or fibrous material and comprising a baling chamber 1 housing a reciprocable ram (not shown), at least one side wall of the chamber 1 is provided with a cavity 6 to relieve overpressure in the compressed material. The cavity 6 may be wedgeshaped with a roof 7 and side walls 8. A plate 3 which is biased downwardly by springs (not shown) carries a tucker plate 4 having a serrated edge 5 which co-operates with a serrated edge on the upper part of the ram to weaken and fold the compressed material. A part 15 of the upper wall of the chamber may be hinged at 13 to the roof 7 of the cavity 6, and may be sprung towards the lower wall to keep the bales compressed during tying.
