Abstract
1,231,784. Charging IC. engines. Gas turbine plant. INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. May 22, 1968 [May 22, 1967], No.23710/67. Headings F1B and F1G. [Also in Division F4] Supply of gaseous fuel e.g. natural hydrocarbon gas for combustion in a vehicle engine e.g. an air cooled gas engine 1 or a gas turbine is obtained from one or more pressure tight containers 3a-- 3d packed with gas absorbing material e.g. sodium alumino-silicate, carbonized cellulose or charcoal and each container has means for varying the temperature and/or pressure therein whereby gaseous fuel may be driven out of each container and whereby each container may be recharged with gas. Initial charging of the container is effected through a gas inlet line 7 having a main control valve 8 and pressure sensing vales 9a--9d, and discharge is effected by closing valve 8 and heating each container by circulating as fluid by a pump through heat exchanger passes embedded in the containers; the fluid having been warmed in a heat exchanger 4 traversed by engine exhaust. The expelled gas is delivered through open valves 9a--9d and a supply line 9 to a mixing unit 2, Prior to re-charging, the containers are cooled to about ambient temperature by circulating a fluid cooled by a refrigerator 5 through a line 11, valves 11a--11d, heat exchanger passes embedded in the containers, valves 12a--12d and a return line 12.
