Abstract

1,231,236. Garment hangers. J. T. BATTS Inc. 17 Oct., 1968 [17 Oct., 1967 (2)], No. 49277/68: Heading A4U. A yoke-type garment hanger comprises a trouser support bar 14 which connects junction pieces 13a, 13b at the ends of legs 12a, 12b diverging downwardly, outwardly and forwardly from a vertical header portion 11, and which has hooks 20a, 20b projecting from the rear surface for engagement by a retaining member in the form of an endless elastic band 60. The hanger, supported at 16 is of inverted U-section with reinforcing ribs 15 and is produced as a one-piece plastics moulding in a twopart mould separable along the vertical axis of the hanger. In modifications, the hooks are formed as continuations of the rear wall (31) of the bar, one of the hooks is formed to provide a small clearance at the mouth so that the rubber band is retained when disengaged from the other hook, or the hooks, in the form of lips (43), are pressed from the lower surface of the bar by protrusion of a part of the die into the upper surface of the back. The bar may have a non-slip surface.
