[Also in Division C3] Rag felt, glass fibre tissue, mat or fabric or an abestos mat is fireproofed by impregnating with a bituminous composition containing an alkylbenzene having two or more bromine and/ or chlorine atoms as nuclear substituents. The bituminous composition may optionally contain as metal compound, preferably an oxide of antimony, to enhance the fire retarding properties of the alkylbenzene additive. Specific examples describe the treatment of roofing felt having a glass tissue base with bituminous compositions containing pentabromotoluene and antimony trioxide.
