Abstract

[Also in Divisions A4 and E1] A rotary-brush road or ground sweeping attachment 10, Fig. 1, mounted on the lift arms 25 of a tractor 26 comprises a receptacle 11 having a discharge door 21, and a brush cylinder 12 geared to a hydraulic motor 17, Fig. 3, coupled to the tractor hydraulic system. The brush 12 consists of sections 13 on two hollow square shafts 14 carried by a chain driven shaft 16, the shaft bearings 36 and the motor-support channel 39 being adjustably positioned by slotted plates 31, 32 to accommodate brush wear. The tractor lift arms 25 pass through the rear wall of the receptacle 11 and are secured internally by pins 24 and externally by brackets 27. The receptacle shown has a hinged top cover 19, a bottom, hinged rear door 21 and a front spray tube 28. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the brush cylinder can tilt about a rod (45) to accommodate road camber, the receptacle (11) having adjustable brush side covers (48), a castor wheel (47) and a bottom door (21). In a further modification, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) the receptacle (11) can swing about a vertical axis, by adjusting bolts (43), so that the brush cylinder is no longer aligned with the tractor wheels and can be reversedriven to heap rubbish to one side of the advancing tractor, instead of collecting it.
