Abstract

1,230,248. Doffing and donning. HISPANO SUIZA (SUISSE) S.A. 14 Nov., 1969 [12 Dec., 1968], No. 55897/69. Heading D1D. A doffing and donning device for a spinning machine comprises an endless belt 6 running about pulleys 8 mounted on a movable support 9 running parallel to the spindles. The belt 6 carries gripping devices 10 which have an open slot into which a stud 15, 16 on top of a bobbin engages when device 10 is moved horizontally onto it. Support 9 is mounted to be vertically movable and movable away from and towards the plane of the spindles. Operation. When not in operation the support and therefore belt are moved forwards, down, and back to an unobtrusive rest position. For use it is moved forwards and upwards to position where, when the belt is driven the grippers 10 pass through an empty bobbin loading station 17 where each engages a bobbin fed through a feed spout. When the number of empty bobbins picked up equals the number of spindles, support 9 is moved so that the run of belt 6 which has empty grippers is brought closely adjacent the studs 15 of the full bobbins; a small movement of belt 6 causes the grippers to engage the studs. Support 9 is then lifted to lift the fall bobbins clear of their spindles. The support is then retracted from the spindles and the belt driven so that the grippers with the full bobbins pass through a station 18 where a finger removes the bobbins from their grippers. The empty bobbins are now carried by the run of belt 6 closest to the spindles. Support 9 is then moved to position the empty bobbins over the spindles, is lowered to place the bobbins on the spindles, belt 6 is moved to remove the grippers from the bobbin studs and finally the support 9 is moved to carry belt 6 to its rest position.
