Abstract

1,229,811. Coated wall covering. J. & J. MAKIN Ltd. 26 Feb., 1968 [9 June, 1967; 5 July, 1967], Nos. 26710/67 and 50664/70. Divided out of 1,227,313. Heading B2E. A readily-strippable wall covering has a fibrous backing surface which has been treated with a stabilised aqueous dispersion containing 30% of a mixture of paraffin waxes including carbon chain lengths of 24 and resins, emulsified with an acid protein colloid stabiliser, to which has been added aluminium salts of organic acids, to reduce the susceptibility of the wall covering to adhere to a wall upon the subsequent application of a waterbased adhesive, the amount of dispersion applied being sufficient to reduce but not eliminate the adhesive bond between the wall and the fibrous backing surface. The aqueous dispersion may be applied in amount 5 gm/sq m. The coating may be applied as a discontinuous irregular or regular, e.g. micro-dot pattern, layer and may be applied before or after the application to the facing surface or printing, decorative, decorative, advertising or instructional matter. The coating may be applied by printing, spraying, immersion, gravure roll, size press, air knife, roller, spraying, silk screen printing without a stencil or by kiss coating.
