Abstract
1,229,561. Method of preparing methylene bridged polyaryl amines. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 25 March, 1970 [9 Jan., 1969], No. 1322/69. Heading C2C. The invention relates to a process for the manufacture of methylene bridge polyaryl amines which comprises condensing a primary aryl amine and formaldehyde at elevated temperature in the presence of a sulphonic acid, the molar proportion of primary aryl amine to sulphonic acid being greater than 1000: 1. The process may be operated in a continuous manner and the reaction may be carried out at a pressure above atmospheric. Several examples are described.
