Abstract

In a method of determining an absolute pressure Pa, lying within a specified range of pressures, a differential pressure #P is applied across a Venturi 2 and a nozzle 3 so arranged that the fluid flows first through the Venturi 2 below sonic velocity and then through the nozzle 3 at sonic velocity and the pressures upstream of the Venturi and at the Venturi throat are then measured. The mathematical relationship is Pa = #P/A where Pa is the absolute pressure to be found, #P is the measured differential pressure and, A is constant.
