Abstract

1,228,282. Elastomeric bushings. GENERAL TIRE & RUBBER CO. 15 May, 1969 [27 May, 1968], No. 24914/69. Heading F2S. A bushing assembly has rigid concentric cylindrical inner 41 and outer 31 members having radially compressed between them an elastomeric member 1. The outer member 31 has at one end a radially outwardly extending flange 33 which abuts a flange 4 on the elastomeric member 1. The elastomeric member has in its normal unstressed condition on axial bore of which at least a portion is tapered, the diameter increasing away from the end of the tapered portion adjacent the radial flange. Also, in the unstressed condition, the axial length of the elastomeric member is less than that of the rigid members, the outer diameter is greater than the inner diameter of the outer rigid member and the maximum inner diameter is less than the outer diameter of the inner rigid member. Annular end caps 51, 61 are held in place by axial flanges (53, 63, Fig. 2, not shown) which engage the inner rigid member.
