A collapsible box 12, Fig. 1, made of e.g. sheet steel, has corrugated side walls 14, 14a hinged with flexible material (22), Fig. 2 (not shown), to form a tube or lie flat; Fig. 4 (not shown), and at least one end closure 32, 34, Fig. 3, which has a channel 36 which may contain a gasket 46 to receive the end edges 38 of the side walls 14, 14a, the inner side 44 of the channel being taller than its outer side 40. A tensioning device 48 to keep the sides 14, 14a and ends 32, 34 in pressure contact is provided either inside or outside and joins the end closure 32 to the side walls 14, 14a or, if two end closures 32, 34 are used as shown, to the second end closure 34. The tensioning device 48 consists of a chain 50 with a toggle lock'52, or a toggle lock (62), Fig. 3B (not shown), and hook (64) can be attached directly between the outside of the side wall and the end closure. The container 12, Fig. 1, is provided with a door assembly 16 which has either one, Fig. 1, or two, Fig. 6 (not shown), doors hinged to a side wall 14 or two doors hinged to a central horizontal member (78), Fig. 5 (not shown), so that one opens downwards and the other upwards. The top end closure 34 may have a central opening with a lid 84. Fork lift truck handling cleats 88, 92 are provided on the top 34 and side walls 14, 14a and the bottom 32 may be provided similarly with brackets 96.
