Abstract

Deceleration control apparatus for a gas turbine engine comprises a fuel-flow control, a manually controlled lever for operating the control, a lostmotion device connected between the control and the lever, and a hydraulic dashpot connected between the lost-motion device and the control for limiting the rate of movement of the control in the direction for reducing the supply of fuel to the engine. Fuel is supplied from a pump 8 to a gas turbine engine 9 via a throttle 10 operated by a manual lever 11. To avoid engine surge due to excessively rapid reduction of fuel-flow, the rate of closing of the throttle 10 in response to closing movement of the lever 11 is limited by a hydraulic dashpot 14, rapid closing movement of the lever 11 causing a spring 13c of a lost-motion device 13 to extend while the retarded responsive movement of the throttle 10 is occurring. Opening movement of the throttle 10 occurs without retardation, however, a spring-loaded valve 14e opening to render the dashpot ineffective and the parts 13a, 13b of the lost-motion device abutting to avoid lostmotion.
