Abstract

1,227,812. Signal circulator. POST OFFICE. 12 March, 1969 [15 March, 1968], No. 12766/68. Heading H4R. A signal circulator comprises a number of ports K, K + 1, K + 2 &c., Fig. 2, arranged in a closed cycle, in which a signal applied to one port appears at the following port in the sequence and at no other port. A number of differential amplifiers GK, GK+1, &c., are arranged with each port connected to one input of a respective differential amplifier, and the output of each differential amplifier being applied to both inputs of the following differential amplifier, via respective potential dividers, in such a way as to produce no output in the following differential amplifier. The differential amplifiers may be transistor long-tailed pairs T1, T2, Fig. 3, with a constant current supply transistor T3, the successive stages being coupled by a common collector transistor T4. Differential operational amplifiers may be used, Figs. 4 to 6 (not shown), a particularly simple arrangement (Figs. 5 and 6) being achieved if the operational amplifiers have a gain of two.
