Abstract

1,226,355. Sectional boilers. WEMAC. 29 March, 1968 [2 Oct., 1967], No. 15404/68. Heading F4A. In a sectional boiler comprising end sections 4 and intermediate sections 5 having water inlet and outlet connections 6 and 7 arranged in the lower and upper corners to one side of each of the sections, the heating surfaces of the sections which define flue gas passages are provided with projections 8 and the water space of each section has a horizontal guide wall 9 extending over the major portion of the width of the section and water deflecting and section reinforcing walls 10. Substantially vertically extending flanges of the sections are provided with grooves 12 to receive packing, e.g. asbestos cord, to seal the sides of the flue gas passages. The projections 8 may occupy about 20% of the heating surface of each section and only a slight gap is left between the end faces of opposing projections on adjacent sections.
