Abstract

1,226,222. Polytetrafluoroethylene coating. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 10 April, 1969 [11 April, 1968], No. 18367/69. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C3] A substrate coated with a layer of polytetrafluoroethylene is prepared by coating the substrate with an aqueous polytetrafluoroethylene dispersion which contains (a) sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid or a mixture thereof (b) at least one polybasic carboxylic acid or hydroxycarboxylic acid containing 2 to 8 carbon atoms and (c) one or more salts of one or more of the acids specified in (a) and (b) with ammonia, sodium, lithium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, zinc, aluminium or iron and drying the coated substrate. In the Examples pure aluminium, chrome nickel steel and steel sheet coated with a sintered enamel are spray-coated with the dispersion to give an undercoat and an overcoat.
